left my computer on at 11.30 and just went for a run
after a long hibernation, i have decided to go back to running
not competitively for now, just running to keep healthy
and i could barely run further after just 30mins
so now i am blogging at 12.55am
didn't really managed to catch the live telecast of the national day rally ytd
you may laugh, but i seriously wanted to hear and understand what direction Singapore is going to in the near future
but my little damn cousins had to watch moviee
and besides, my uncles and aunties are anti-pap, but it is really besides the point
you may hate the government, but you have to accept the fact the government is here to stay, at least for 5 years or so, so don't make life so miserable
i may disagree with the government in some issues such as the relaxation of the immigration law so as to allow the influx of foreigners or simply foreign talents to help solve our population or boost our economy, but who should we blame in the first place
singaporeans who do not want babies?
or singaporeans who are not hardworking?
for me, i personally feel that most foreign talents who come here to singapore are simply attracted by the overwhelming package that our government has in store for them, so to put it simply, this is a place where they will not call home
there may be a few minorities such as malaysian-born david gan or the guy from india Mr Mustaq Ahmad who set up mustafa or even the world number 1 snooker who adopted singapore as his home
face it, foreign talents are here to stay, but fight hard, be competitive
as what PM lee said "So there are things which we can do as a government in order to open our doors and bring immigrants in. But more importantly as a society, we as Singaporeans, each one of us, we have to welcome immigrants, welcome new immigrants. I know that some Singaporeans don't agree. They have reservations, they worry about the competition, they are unhappy that immigrants come here don't do National Service or maybe they just don't like immigrants living next to them. I mean, once in a while, But we are different doesn't mean we have to reject them, we have to take a big-hearted approach. Our forefathers were immigrants too. If they had been kept out of Singapore, we wouldn't be here today. And to grow and flourish, we have to help those who, we must let people come and invite people to come who can help us to achieve our goals. And if they come from China or India or Russia, well, if they can integrate into our society and make a contribution, I say, they are Singaporean too"
haha since i don't have time to really read the national rally speech, i have decided to download it and put it into my ipod.
"Ours is an improbable nation. We are a small country in an uncertain world, we always worry about the future, we never take anything for granted. Many people have put heart and soul into building what we have today. And through hard work and clear thinking, we've created something unique and something precious in Singapore, a home for all of us.
Our forefathers have planted the trees which now provide the shade which we now enjoy. It's now our duty to plant trees and grow them, trees which will give hope and strength to a new generation. And you should do this not because you happen to be born here or because you happen to hold a red passport but because you believe in this mission, you believe in this ideal, you believe that Singapore is something special and worth fighting for. As Mr Rajaratnam said once, because "being Singaporean is not a matter of ancestry but of conviction and choice".
stupid com, cannot upload pictures of the mad man and the urine bottle
